Heat is transmitted through three methods: conduction, convection, and radiation.
- Conduction: transfer of heat through direct contact between particles in a material, without movement of the material itself.
- Convection: transfer of heat by movement of a fluid, such as air or liquid, that carries heat from one place to another.
- Radiation: transfer of heat as electromagnetic waves, including infrared radiation, which does not require a medium for transmission.
