There are many examples of peninsulas in the world. A peninsula is a landform that extends from a mainland and is surrounded by water on most, but not all of its borders. Some of the largest peninsulas are:
- The Arabian Peninsula, which covers 1.25 million square miles and includes nine countries: Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan.
- The Deccan (Indian) Peninsula, which covers 800,004 square miles and includes most of India south of the Narmada River. It is bordered by the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.
- The Indochina Peninsula, which covers 748,553 square miles and includes six countries: Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Myanmar. It is bordered by the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, the South China Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
- The Horn of Africa, which covers 726,975 square miles and includes four countries: Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea. It is bordered by the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

- The Iberian Peninsula, which covers 224,300 square miles and includes Spain, Portugal and Andorra. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
- The Korean Peninsula, which covers 85,270 square miles and includes North Korea and South Korea. It is bordered by the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan.
- The Florida Peninsula, which covers 54,252 square miles and includes most of Florida in the United States. It is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.
